The Savage Arms model 10ml IIxp muzzleloading rifles are the only models that are currently
rated for use with modern powders as well as Blackpowder, Triple Seven and Pryodex too!
Savage Arms states in there 2008 catalog that the 10ML IIXP with 209 primer ignition is capable
of exceeding velocities of 2,300 fps with more than 3,000 foot pounds of knockdown engery!
This 50 caliber muzzleloader is the only one on the market to feature the AccuTrigger and
is capable of shooting 1.5 inch groups at 100 yards. The Savage 10ml IIxp makes shooting safe,
clean and simple. Another great feature is the bolt designed to hold the 209 primer in the
bolt face. This makes it ease to use and a sure fire weather seal. The 10ML-IIxp's barrel and
hardened breech plug are designed to safely contain the pressures from shooting smokeless.
And, since smokeless powders are non-corrosive, the 10ML-IIXP is a muzzleloader hunter's dream
come true--clean it next week or next month--you decide. Just remember when you use blackpower
and similar corrosive powders. You still have to clean it even if you buy the stainless steel
models. There is loading data on a website linked to Savage Arms showing that you can get up
to 2300 fps with modern rifle powder and a 300 grain bullet. Wile shooting a 1 1/2 inch
group at appox 220 yards. Now we will not claim you can get this out your new Savage
muzzleloading rifle! But it is nice to know someone says they have. As you know every
muzzleloader is diffrent and requires load development. To get the best performance.
You can go to the Savage Arms website and click on the link about loading information
and read what it says there for yourself. Remember what is great about using modern powders
is that you do not have to clean them like you do when using blackpowder or pryodex. Some
shooters of the 10ML-IIXP claim they only clean there rifles a couple of times a year.
